Forged by Competition

In 2025, Manu Vilaseca broke the women's record for the Triple Crown of American 200s by over 29 hours, wearing early prototypes of the Mount to Coast M1. "Stability is what makes you go faster when things get complicated," she says, "and the M1 had that right away."

Hit the Jets

By applying a state-of-the-art supercritical foaming process to automotive-grade materials, we engineered JETCELL. The resulting midsole delivers our highest-ever energy return while boasting consistent performance and twice the structural strength of standard PEBA foams, resisting tearing and degradation from the first mile to the last.

Tuned for Chaos

The M1 upper is made with TPEE-blended yarns that provide the robustness and stability you need for the longest, roughest races, while drying fast and offering excellent breathability. We know feet change shape over extreme distances, so our TUNEDFIT Dual Lacing System offers independent, customizable fit for the forefoot and midfoot, and a reinforced toe box protects your feet when fatigue sets in.

Vibram’s Finest

The M1’s outsole features a trio of Vibram innovations: full-coverage Megagrip rubber for tenacious traction in any conditions, Litebase for 30 percent less weight without compromising performance, and Traction Lug micro-features for up to 25 percent more grip.

Just got the M1 on Friday and did a 18 mile run

Just got the M1 on Friday and did a 18 mile run and these shoes performed great. Very responsive and the ride was plush. I like them a lot .

Twenty-five miles and I’m pretty impressed

Twenty-five miles of rocky trail in and
I think this shoe is pretty nice. I’m saving the fifth star for durability to see how they hold up. I’d say I’m an all around men’s 8 and this shoe fits ME quite well. That said, I can see why it’s been described as a short fit. The Jetcell is wonderful plush but with a peppy return. They felt fantastic right out of the box and throughout each run so far, but I I haven’t done anything over 15 miles in them. I wasn’t very excited about the dual lacing system, but in two instances I’ve used them and was glad they were there to cinch up the fit. They’re lighter than my other trail shoes which felt delicate at first, but the M1 seems like it will be tough. I think traction is fantastic up and downhill on SW Colorado trails. I did feel a sort of buckling in the upper on some step-like features but only when really flexing the shoe. Over all I am a fan. They seem to be very well made when inspected and based on their reputation of durability I’m looking forward to many miles in the M1s.

Light, grippy, and very adjustable

Light, grippy, and very adjustable. Look forward to putting lots of miles on these - today's first 15mi run felt great. A little less stable than other shoes but a worthwhile tradeoff with bounce and responsiveness.

I am really exited about this shoe

I am really exited about this shoe. I really like how strong the shoe feels. I over pronate and I feel like this shoes really helps my ankles stay straight. I did have to break them in but now we are great friends. I also like how they grip when I run up a hill. They are a great addition to my mount to coast collection.

Outstanding energy return, but fit and lockdown require attention

After my first 9.5 km trail run with 554 m of elevation gain, the M1 delivered the best energy return I have experienced in any shoe. It does not feel aggressively bouncy; instead, it produces a smooth, efficient transition with very little energy loss. It also rolled comfortably on road sections, and despite the 38 mm heel stack, stability was reassuring on the terrain I tested.

Sizing is more complicated. I wear the same US 8.5 in both the H1 and M1, and their internal length feels nearly identical. The M1’s toe box does not actually feel narrow, but its upper is noticeably stiffer than the H1’s and initially creates more pressure. I suspect some runners may interpret this pressure as the shoe running short and size up, although doing so could reduce foothold for narrower or lower-volume feet.

Even in my usual size, the upper did not lock my foot down particularly well. My foot slid forward on descents and my toes occasionally contacted the bumper, despite having sufficient space in front. A runner’s loop noticeably improved the lockdown. Sizing up might provide more clearance, but it could also allow even more movement inside the shoe, so the best choice will depend heavily on foot shape.

Overall, the ride is exceptionally efficient, energetic, and stable, but the stiff, shape-sensitive upper and relatively weak lockdown make fit more complicated than a simple half-size-up recommendation.

M1 - the trail shoe I’ve been looking for!

I’ve been searching for a wider fit trail shoe for a while. I’m usually an 11.5 Wide in most shoes, bought the M1 in a 12 and the are absolutely perfect! My foot runs wide all the 5th met and low arch. (H1 arch was too narrow for me.) Wide toe box and lockdown is good. May need to adjust the upper toe lace down a hole for more security.
Nice energy return and grip is what you’d expect from MegaGrip. These float over everything while remaining stable.
Coming from La Sportiva Prodigio 2 and Cascadia 19 Wide into the M1 and they have been amazing. Buying a backup pair asap!

The shoe itself for me really is a 5-star shoe

The shoe itself for me really is a 5-star shoe; comfortable, stable, great cushion.
BUT, the sizing is a 3-star. Doesn't fit at all like the R1, H1 or C1 (which I know the C1 is slightly bigger in size that the others, but still) - more narrow and about 1/2 size small. So for me, sizing up a full size is a bit much - but in long races/runs, it'll be good as my feet swell.
I would just say - put this darn sole/mid on the H1 and it would have been perfect. So a bit perplexing why the sizing is off.
I bought 2 of them the first hour they were released and had to return them, because at the time there wasn't feedback about sizing. Just beware.
But as I said, great cushion and grip on the shoe.

New favorite shoes

I absolutely love Mount to Coast. As a former elite/pro that wore Altra for nearly a decade and became dissatisfied with their products, I bought a pair of T1’s and immediately loved them. I then bought the H1’s and love them and now the M1’s. They are great shoes and very comfortable and great quality. I am committed to them now and please don’t change the quality of them. Please add some color combinations. I know they have become very popular, so I have a hard time finding my size online or in running stores. Please keep up the great work and I look forward to many years in these shoes.

Ready to #mastertheunknown

I’ve been a devout T1 fan and couldn’t wait to try the M1s. So far, I’ve been extremely impressed and can tell the focus was put on all the right details with this shoe. The cushioning is tremendous, while the fit and durability of the upper feel like they’re built to last for the long haul.

What I love most is that the best qualities of the H1 and T1 seem to have come together in the M1 to create one seriously awesome ultra shoe. Comfortable, durable, and built for big miles, I’m really excited to see what these can do🤘

M1 is da bomb

These are, without a doubt, the best trail running shoes I’ve ever used. I’ve been running for over 20 years, primarily in Hokas, and these definitely take the cake. The upper really locks down and holds my foot in place, the tread is just right, and best of all the midsole just has an incredible amount of rebound. I have my shoes cued on my running app to notify me after 600 miles, and I anticipate hitting that mark and continuing thereafter with the same pair.

Really enjoying the M1s so far

Really enjoying the M1s so far. Ran a trail half and the responsiveness seems faster than the H1. Also once they’re on they feel like marshmallows.

I’ve only logged 11trail miles in them and I’m

I’ve only logged 11trail miles in them and I’m nervous. The foam seen a little too squishy and the fit feels a little too narrow, especially compared to my T-1 or R-1. Hoping the stretch a little. Training for a 50k and need the room for swelling.

Took it out for what ended up being a 34-mile run fresh out of the box, these shoes are impressive. This dual lacing system was perfect, the shoes were solid on the trails and comfy for the long hours.

#AZSRRUNNER M1's

#azsrrunner - Got the newness worn off my #mounttocoast M1’s 😁 really like this shoe, absorbs shock very nicely without feeling spongy or bouncy. As a heavier runner (215), recovering from a broken metatarsal earlier this year, feet had no soreness or tenderness after 3 runs over 3 days 1hr, 3 1/2 hr and 2 1/2 hour run. Traction in crushed granite was good, no slop or slippage on off camber areas, foot felt well supported yet felt connected to the ground. In case you missed it, I really like this shoe, #mounttocoast did an outstanding job creating this shoe, and the #veterans 15% discount from #mounttocoast through #id.me is much appreciated, hopefully it helps me convince the wife I need the glacier blue colorway also so I always have a pair available to rotate when I have to clean them 😂
