Breaking the Mold

Pronation is essential to our normal gait, but for some runners, uncontrolled overpronation may lead to problems. For decades, lab studies have noted a correlation between overpronation – especially excessive foot eversion – and lower limb complaints. Historically this insight led many brands down the route of heavy motion control shoes. These shoes incorporate a rigid support structure within the medial side of the rearfoot and under the arch to control heel eversion and increase rearfoot stability. However, we believe there is something more important that requires our focus.

Research, Rethink, Run

Our biomechanics research revealed that runners who experience discomfort associated with overpronation tend to display excessive forefoot abduction. Normal forefoot function is vital for pain-free running as the forefoot spends more time in contact with the ground, experiences higher peak pressure, and acts as a rocker during propulsion. If we truly wish to manage complaints related to overpronation, we need to look towards the forefoot.

These findings led us to develop our groundbreaking 3D Archrail technology: a flexible support structure that significantly reduces peak forefoot abduction angles and activates the abductor hallucis muscle in the arch of your foot. Love em!

Did my first 4 miles with them the day I got em and they’re super comfortable. I’ve owned Altra’s Escalante and Flux shoes and liked both brands but these have more support, especially around the heel. Only wish the heal to toe drop was less. Fit is great, the Altra’s we’re too roomy, whereas these fit perfectly.

Love the shoes. I have the S1 for longer runs switching from the zero drop. Love the cushion and toe box.

Real Review

A bit of background. I have super flat feet. Zero arch. In the past I have used Mizuno Wave Inspire, Hoka Gaviota, Brooks Adrenaline, GTS, Max, you name it.

The P1s, for me have functioned better than all
of those shoes. The fit, energy return, stability, weight, look, temperature control and guidance have been vastly superior to the shoes I mentioned above. To be clear, I am 42, I have been running since I was a child; I love or have loved all the shoes I mentioned above. Mount to Coast just works…better
