Size Measuring Guide
A perfect fit for your ultra-marathon running shoes is important for comfort and performance. Follow these tips to measure your foot size at home:
General Tips:
- Measure your feet at the end of the day as they're at their largest due to swelling.
- In between sizes? One foot is bigger than the other? Take the larger size.
- It's best to measure every year. Your size could change over time.
What You'll Need:
- A piece of paper larger than your foot,
- A pen or pencil,
- A ruler or measuring tape,
- Socks of the thickness you'll wear with the shoes.
Steps:
- Stand on the paper in the socks you'll wear with the shoes.
- Use the pen or pencil to mark the end of your longest toe and the back of your heel. It's important to measure both feet as their size can vary.
- Match your measurements to our size chart to find the best fit. If you're between sizes, we suggest choosing the larger size for better comfort.

The proof is in the eating.
Adventure and athleticism take many forms. In January 2025, ultrarunner and race director Jamil Coury toed the line for a chance to win a year's supply of free burritos. The challenge: run as many miles as possible outside an Arizona restaurant. What followed was an absurd commitment to athleticism and competition that saw him run more than 730 miles. And his shoe of choice for over 600 of those miles? A single pair of the new Mount to Coast H1s.

Created through a process of advanced supercritical foaming, each pair of CircleCELL™ midsoles is made from up to 20 pounds (9 kilograms) of organic waste and residual biomass. Despite its sustainability credentials, CircleCELL™ delivers energy return on par with PEBA, with almost double PEBA's running lifespan.
Mount to Coast VersaGrip™ is engineered to deliver exceptional traction, confidence and durability across all terrain, so you can run to the trails from your front door without ever missing a step. Worried that a road shoe will be out of its depth on the trails? VersaGrip™ has got your back. This is optimal performance for real-world situations.
The TUNEDFIT™ Dual Lacing System offers separately customizable fit for the forefoot and midfoot. Because we know that in the ultrarunner’s pursuit of distance, feet can swell and change shape, and having a shoe that can adapt to those changes on the fly can be the difference between minor discomfort and injury.
The H1 features a dual-zone upper. Across the top portion, the shoe is engineered with jacquard for adaptive fit and comfort, while the lower part is crafted for exceptional durability with a high-performance woven fabric, reinforced with aramid fibers that are five times stronger than steel.

One of the most versatile road-to-gravel shoes I’ve owned. It feels like a true road shoe first, with just enough off-road capability to handle light trail and gravel with confidence. The lightweight upper disappears on foot, and the ample, roomy toe box makes it ultra comfortable for long runs. Underfoot, the foam is responsive and fun, adding a lively feel without sacrificing comfort. Down here on Southern California’s bluffed-out trails, it’s right at home—smooth on pavement, stable when the surface gets loose.
These have been a perfect option for me to run the less than a mile from my front door to the nearest trailhead in the desert city I live in, but they also survived and kept my foot comfortable and protected during an impromptu detour up and down a summit trail and ridgeline hiking. They feel like they get more comfortable the longer I wear them. They are probably not the best option for more technical and rockier trail, but for gravel, loose rocks, and dirt they've been great. That said, even with more technical trails these held up and left my feet feeling less beat up than my more technical trail shoes. I also appreciated the wider forefoot and more form fitting heel and midfoot. The wide base also kept me from rolling my ankle, though if you are an overpronator these may not provide enough medial support. There have been a few times where the tuned fit lace clip felt like it was going to get stuck, but this has not been a prevailing problem yet. Overall, I'm really glad I tried these, and I'm excited to the see what the M1 offers in the future for more technical terrain with higher cushion stack than the T1.
These have become my favorite road to trail shoes. Comfortable upper, midsole foam perfectly balances cushion/bounce. These are my go to shoe for gravel/crushed rock trails and on roads during poor midwestern winter weather.
Been using the H1’s for a week and I’m blown away by them. They are so responsive and I’ve been trekking through some snow packed trails with them, the traction holds up. Great shoes!
As a lifelong shoe connoisseur and runner who has now reached middle age with chronic turf toe/ toe issues I have finally found my favorite shoe for running and also just general daily wear. It’s been a LONG search.
Shoes much like bike saddles are extremely personal, so what works for some won’t work for others, but these certainly work for me! Love the foam. Upper is spacious in toe box but doesn’t look like a wide toe box shoe which I like. Lacing system is great if it’s your thing and I like both the function and the look (techy). The sole is a Goldilocks situation…. Full rubber not a lot of exposed foam which is the new thing for almost all road shoes which I don’t care for, find they wear faster. Lugs are all I need for most trail work unless muddy and not too much to feel goofy if I need to run errands for the day.
Love the padded but not too much tongue and heel cup.
Only downside for me is the colorways. Don’t particularly care for either and I’d say don’t really care for any of MtC color uses on any model. The H1 is a great looking shoe and could be even better with good color choices.
If you’ve read this far hit complete purchase you won’t regret it.
