Size Measuring Guide
A perfect fit for your ultra-marathon running shoes is important for comfort and performance. Follow these tips to measure your foot size at home:
General Tips:
- Measure your feet at the end of the day as they're at their largest due to swelling.
- In between sizes? One foot is bigger than the other? Take the larger size.
- It's best to measure every year. Your size could change over time.
What You'll Need:
- A piece of paper larger than your foot,
- A pen or pencil,
- A ruler or measuring tape,
- Socks of the thickness you'll wear with the shoes.
Steps:
- Stand on the paper in the socks you'll wear with the shoes.
- Use the pen or pencil to mark the end of your longest toe and the back of your heel. It's important to measure both feet as their size can vary.
- Match your measurements to our size chart to find the best fit. If you're between sizes, we suggest choosing the larger size for better comfort.

I never realized how much I was using my feet to try and “grip” my shoes when I was running until I wore a pair that fit my weird feet. These! I have wide toes, high arches, I pronate, and suffered with shin splints after long runs because of my tendency to use my toes to try and hold my shoes on. I was looking for a shoe with some drop and cushioning that were light, grippy, and dried easily.
I took these out for a run for the first time and I went faster, further, without shin pain. I put in some insoles for high arches and snugged them up and just flew. I did get a heel blister but that was a sock issue so I’m experimenting with the tightness and thinner socks. (I’ve always needed cushioned socks because weird feet. I’m using the thinner, famous, toe socks now.)
In my time I’ve had my gait analyzed and my arches measured and other shenanigans with moderate success. Love my local run store for everything else but I have weird feet and this is the first time I’ve felt a shoe really fit me. These are my magic bullet. Overall, if you’re the person that leaves the running store feeling like you just paid a lot of money for something that should fit like a glove and have ALWAYS been disappointed then try these. They are light enough and bouncy with some propulsion and grip that even normal-footed people will love them. :)
M2C: Never stop churning out these babies. If you’re going to change them then I need to know so I can buy enough for the rest of my life. Highly recommended.
I have only ran in them less than 10 times but I really do like them. I haven’t used them on anything longer than a 10k either so it’s hard to tell how they will hold up for a longer distance. They are incredibly lightweight and the dual lacing system is great. I do wish there was a pocket for the toe lace but it’s nothing major. The toe box is smaller than my usual Topo shoes but I haven’t found it to be an issue, a longer run will be the determining factor on that. Overall, I am enjoying these!!
After such great experience with the R1, I was excited to try out the T1. After 40+ miles in them, I’ve decided they have great stability and cushioning on the many rocks in the Franklin Mountains. I’ll be testing them out on an unsupported FKT of the Colorado Trail in July. I’ll report back how well they hold up.
Great shoes with lots of grip
And cushion at the same time!!
I got the shoes on Friday afternoon. I’ve worn and raced in Hoka shoes ever since they first came out. At 65 years old I have some new big goals.
Saturday morning I started a 50 mile mountain race in Utah with my new trail shoes. Literally from the box to the trail. That was a first for me. LOVE, LOVE THESE shoes. Maybe you want to consider an older runner with a beautiful history in the sport of Ultra running. Grateful Lisa Smith-Batchen
