Size Measuring Guide
A perfect fit for your ultra-marathon running shoes is important for comfort and performance. Follow these tips to measure your foot size at home:
General Tips:
- Measure your feet at the end of the day as they're at their largest due to swelling.
- In between sizes? One foot is bigger than the other? Take the larger size.
- It's best to measure every year. Your size could change over time.
What You'll Need:
- A piece of paper larger than your foot,
- A pen or pencil,
- A ruler or measuring tape,
- Socks of the thickness you'll wear with the shoes.
Steps:
- Stand on the paper in the socks you'll wear with the shoes.
- Use the pen or pencil to mark the end of your longest toe and the back of your heel. It's important to measure both feet as their size can vary.
- Match your measurements to our size chart to find the best fit. If you're between sizes, we suggest choosing the larger size for better comfort.

Was stoked to be wearing these. Loved the lower drop height, stiff heel counter, foam compound, and overall last shape. That said, the upper ripped from lateral to medial, all the way through, as well as a large rip in the toe on my most recent outing. I estimate that I had a total of 93 miles on these shoes. Hoping it was just a defect, especially given that I’ve never had this happen with another performance trail runner. Pretty disappointed right now bc they were great shoes otherwise!
I bought these to wear on our Camino De Santiago hike.
Started wearing them immediately to "break-in". So comfortable right away and I look forward to using them 10-15 miles per day.
My first pair and definitely not my last!
Just received my T1! Love it so far. I did insert a pair of Superfeet insoles for more arch support. Feeling good about hiking Ermei mountain in China next month!!!!
I didn’t receive the extra traditional laces in the box though. I was looking for them because one of the TUNEDFOR laces would loosen itself Not a big thing but a tad bit of a bummer.
Took them for some short training runs this past week and today put them on the trail for real… 14mile 3800vert and 5 1/2 hour moving time 7 hrs in the shoes and they felt great. I was ready for the end of the trail but, it wasn’t the shoes.
Cheers!
I ruck in these shoes every day. I usually ruck about 20 miles, less lately all at once due to extreme summer heat of 100+. These are the only shoes I currently own, so they are on my feet all the time. Very comfortable, lots of grip. I ruck rural roads, dirt, gravel, grass, sand, and anything else I come across. My feet are size 9.5, and I choose to wear an 11 due to foot swell while rucking. Day rucks, night rucks, these shoes can handle it all. The wide toe box is amazing, the lacing system is amazing. Whether a quick trip to the market or a longer than usual 30+ miles to check out a bridge covered in graffiti, these shoes will get you there.
I have 6 pair high end shoes and my T-1's are the best shoes I've ever owned
These Mount to Coast shoes are very comfortable, incredibly lightweight, and provide excellent grip. They feel great underfoot and perform well overall.
My main issue is the lace-cinch system. It is not very intuitive to use, and the components feel flimsy for a shoe that costs around $180. The cinch should be made from higher-quality materials and feel more secure and durable.
An attachable gaiter option would also be a great addition, especially for keeping dirt and debris out on trails. Overall, these are comfortable, capable shoes, but the lace system needs refinement to better match the premium price.
Very good trail shoes! Just bought my second pair of T1's. I originally was excited to try them because I love that Mount to Coast is trying to make shoes more durable and sustainable. I found that they were very comfortable with great spring and good traction and set out to see how far I could go on one pair. They were more durable than most but not quite as durable as some of the advertising had me hoping. I found the lugs were badly worn by around 400 miles (resulting in some very slippery times on snowfields) but they still felt good on my feet up to about 680 miles. Note that I was mostly running on very rocky trails; lugs might last longer in areas with softer trails. So not quite what the R1's have been reported doing but still better than any other shoes I've ever had! I was also impressed that they still felt secure for several hundred miles even after I managed to cut the upper over the forefoot open on a sharp volcanic rock after about 300 miles!
These are fantastic shoes I've now trained for and run my first official races including a 100 miler in the T1, and they've performed every time. I own multiple pairs but my 1st pair are still more than capable, overall great product I look forward to trying the M1 when it finally becomes available as well.

100 mile review.
Much lighter than any other big day trail shoe I’ve used. Support has been great. I really like the level of stiffness for climbs helps foot fatigue for +5k days. Works great for me will buy again. Considering trying out the h1 for a daily shoe.
Long time Hoka runner. Love the T1 in the mountains around Steamboat Colorado
The shoes themselves are fantastic and are very durable and fit very well. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn for technical terrain. I feel very confident running in them. However, they do have a vital Achilles heel. The BOA system is quite fragile. I got about 450 miles out of my first pair before the plate on the loosening strap fell off and I could no longer adjust the BOA system. The BOA system on my second pair failed after only 20 miles of running. I can no longer loosen the shoe and it is practically unwearable at this point. I have to give credit where it’s due that the design is very well thought out, but for $180 the durability of the laces is almost a dealbreaker and would be a shame if not improved.
Dual lace system is great. Nice to be able to adjust quickly on the trail. Very roomy, breathable, and grippy.
I liked the shoe bottom feet support. 2 issues I had with them was the laces on top needed to be adjusted on the downhills. It got too tight. Secondly, after 30 miles into my long run in them, the bottom started make squishy noises, which got annoying.
I am currently on my second pair of T1s the first pair got me through all my training for r2r2r at the Grand Canyon. Also got me through the run. I loved these shoes. I found I had to swap out to the spare laces due to downhill running the quick system cut into the upper part of my feet. Only thing I would address is the eyelets are a bit tight for the laces. Besides that amazing shoe would recommend!!
Are these shoes waterproof
Hi Oscar. The upper material of our shoes is designed with a focus on breathability, and therefore, it does not have special enhancements for water resistance or waterproofing.
Do they run to size, usually wear a men's 12 but have problems to black toe nails, may need to size up to 12.5.
Thanks,
Adam
Our shoes are designed to be true to size, we usually suggest ordering our shoes in your usual size.
However, you can also size up to 12.5 if you have problems to black toe nails in other shoes.
