Believe in H1

When Thomas Neuberger of Believe in the Run first tried the H1, he remembers thinking, “yeah, this one’s different.” In fact, he liked it so much he asked if we could collaborate on a special edition shoe. The BITR H1 pulls from Thomas’s 16 years of shoe nerdery to include his color-inspo, design input, and his favorite ever structural feature, a high collar. As Thomas says, “the design matches the running experience – the shoe simply sings.”

Pop your collar

Building on the H1’s modern silhouette, the BITR H1 adds a gaiter-style collar to create a secure connection between your foot and the shoe, while blocking out dust and trail debris. Mount to Coast designers created a sock-like construction that is easy to slip on and off, in a Desert colorway that looks great on the trail, in the city, or wherever you run.

Firm foundations

The H1 is an award-winning road-to-trail shoe, built around the principles of sustainability, durability, and versatility. The magic begins with our CircleCELL midsole, which is made from a renewable feedstock to deliver class-leading energy return and lifespan. The upper offers durability and long-distance comfort with its TUNEDFIT Dual Lacing System, while the VersaGrip outsole provides confidence and efficiency in practically any environment.

H1 breakdown after 1 run unbelievable

Out of the box took for a run and the foams already peeling off the sides of the sole. 10 miles in. I’ve had many shoes from MTC disappointed in the H1 and how two different pairs seem to fall apart. Running on rocks roots and gravel in central Arkansas. Wish returns and coupons were allocated for the products when they fail like this.

Loveee the shoe not the gaiter

The bitr collab was the only h1 in my tiny size 5.5, so I bought it to try! I love the shoe itself, fits great and SUPER fun to run in. The gaiter was not the most comfortable, because it was built into the heel collar. I had some discomfort and rubbing across the back of my foot, where the shoe met the gaiter. Please make the regular h1 in a 5.5!!!

Super light and bouncy, great fit, looks sick, feels good on the road or trail and the gaiters keep debris out of the shoe. What’s not to like? The original H1 is already awesome but the extra BITR flair makes it that much better. I love them.

True hybrid

Feels like a road shoe on the road and grips like a trail shoe when you need it, and no gravel made it past the built in gaiter, very happy with my purchase.

Pretty nice but needs improvement on the toe box

I enjoyed the built in gaiter, however it makes the shoe run a bit warm, would recommend a material that is a bit more breathable yet is still able to keep debris out. Also, and this applies for the standard H1, please do away with the tapered toe box. I prefer the rounded toe box that the C1 utilizes, and I’m speculating that will be on the upcoming M1. You fix the toe box issue and you’ll have the proverbial quiver killer.

The Perfect Shoe for a Heavy Weight

This is my second pair of H1 shoes, and they are perfect! As a 200-pound runner, finding a shoe that fits my wide feet and holds up well has been a challenge, but these do the trick. I was really worried that the ankle sock wouldn't fit my large ankles, but I was wrong; they fits like a glove!!

Running on gravel roads has become a breeze with these shoes, and I no longer have to deal with tiny rocks getting inside. I mainly run 5K to 10K distances, but I wore them for a fast mile on the first day I received them and ended up taking nearly 45 seconds off my average mile time.

They are also built to last.

I recommended these shoes to all my heavyweight friends, and they will definitely be a permanent part of my rotation!

The Only Trail Shoe I'll Run In

I didn't plan on becoming a Mount to Coast loyalist. But then I put 500 miles on my first pair of H1s and somewhere around mile 300, I stopped thinking about my feet entirely. That's the benchmark for a great trail shoe.

The H1 handles everything I throw at it. Technical scrambles, long grinding climbs, fast descents — it stays planted and precise without ever feeling heavy or stiff. The fit holds up mile after mile, and the outsole still has teeth well past the point where other shoes have tapped out.

What sets the H1 apart is the built-in gaiter. It sounds like a small thing until you've done a rocky, dusty, debris-filled run and come out the other side with clean socks. No fumbling with aftermarket gaiters, no mid-run stops to shake out gravel. It's integrated, low-profile, and it just works — every single time.

I'm on my second pair now. Already broken in, already logging miles. The H1 earns its place on every run.

Pleasantly survived! Nice alternative to Hoka X3 Tecton.

Just got them. This is my try-on, walk-around review. Perfect heel lock with roomy toe box, a killer combo. Foam has good flexion, while not being too soft. Shoe will probably benefit from an insert... going to try that before first run.

Breakout shoe

What sets this version apart is the dialed-in fit. The disappear on the feet in easy to moderate terrain. Highly recommend.

Not impressed

Not sure if it’s quality control or myself. One shoe fits tighter than the other and caused top of the foot pain light the laces were to tight. I barely had the laces pulled. The shoe fits light a sock and I usually wear dirty girl gaiters so I thought these would be great! I didn’t notice this until about 3 miles into a run that it was that tight to cause pain.
I’ve tried wearing them on more runs thinking they might need to break in but still no luck.
I wish I would have stayed with the h1.

Great comfort and styling. Wasn’t as big of a fan as the sock like ankle shroud compared to the normal H1. Overall great shoe.

Super comfy, great shock, great cushion and awesome stability

Super comfy, great shock, great cushion and stability the lacing system is right on the money with narrow and wide feet along with wearing all day and feet starting to swell. You can wear all day. The cushion is perfect. No rolling… forward lateral movement is great.
I just hope the sole holds up by being on pavement multiple hrs. Keep up the great work MTC. Please make an all black edition with dark colored sole and 3M Accents. It would really be cooler to have an all back upper black sole with 3M and Glow in the dark outsole for running at night!!!
