The R1s are the most comfortable shoe I ever bought! They are light and have amazing cushion!! 💯 recommend!!
I’m a 78 year old female ultra runner. As I have aged I have developed a terrible problem with blisters on my feet. A couple of days ago I did a 14 miler with my new R1s right out of the box and I did not even get one blister!
Definitely best running shoes I’ve ever wore. So much cushion. Love the front cinch too.
I was not expecting such a versatile shoe from a 1st time shoe company. The R1 shoe does it all. From easy runs, to picking up the pace, to casual wear. If the NB 1080 and Rebel V4 had a baby…this is it! I love the stack height/drop. I weigh 200lbs but like picking up the pace somedays. Despite the 27mm forefoot(feels thicker), I can go from easy run, to tempo without discomfort or bottoming out. The upper is comfortable/breathable…and the lacing system(after learning curve) does work. Time will tell on the outsole durability but I’m looking forward to putting it to the test. It’s the shoe I reach for now.
I am not an ultra runner (yet). I am also a bigger runner and a slower runner. The R1s are perfect for my easy runs and long runs. The toe box is very roomy and for a bigger guy I often find that even firmer foams are still a little too soft but that is not the case for the R1; its just the right amount of springy, cushion and comfort. I am planning to use the R1s for my first marathon, the Chicago Marathon.
I've heard some say that there is a clicking sound while running but I have not experienced that at all on wet or dry ground.
R1p up the Record Books
In the spring of 2024, British ultrarunner Justin Montague took one pair of R1s to the northernmost point of Scotland to run the JOGLE, a multistage ultra to the most southerly tip of England. Over 17 daily stages he ran 854 miles (1,374 km) setting a time that was almost 40 hours faster than the previous record, and he broke each day’s individual stage record along the way.
